Cartrol

Giving users control over their car transport business

Project Overview

The Challenge

Design an app that allows the users to track and manage the bookings and reviews much more efficiently.

The Product

Cartrol is a car management app that allows users to control their car transport business effectively. Cartrol strives to deliver the ultimate car management experience.

My Role

UX designer leading the app design from concept to delivery

The Goal

  1. To check bookings, edit the booking calendar as well as delete any cars that are no longer booked.

  2. To be able to manage the reviews shared on social media via this application.

  3. To review all of the cars in motion, the miles as well as the speed of the car in motion.

  4. To have a simple menu where I can select all of the functionality I need to complete my job on a daily basis.

Project duration

1 week

Responsibilities

Digital wireframing, High-fidelity prototyping, accounting for accessibility,  and responsive design.

Starting The Design

I conducted a brainstorming session on how to go about the design process. I put myself in the shoes of the user and thought up possible problems and solutions. With this in mind I generated a hypothesis statement which outlines the business goals, user goals and all possible features.

Assumptions

Declaring my assumptions was imperative to the process because it would help me decipher what was actually accurate and what wasn't. I started from a point where I asked myself questions about the users, issues that may arise, and how I might go about solving them.

Business Goals: How the business strives to succeed in the market

Users: Who is our audience? (Behavioral Archetypes, personas, etc.)

User Goals: What goals will the users want to accomplish when using the app?

Potential Features: How might we bridge the gap between our users and their goals?

Hypothesis Statement

I pieced together my assumptions into an hypothesis statement. This is to give an insight into how the business goals and user goals align when placed side by side.

Wireflow

I used vital information, from my self-brainstorming session, to direct the flow of the app and the fluidity going from screen to screen

Style Guide

I chose the color blue as indication of security and  white to depict a relaxed experience. Chosen color was also used in little tone for clickable elements to be easily identifiable. The main typefaces of choice for the app is Arial Rounded MT Bold and Baloo 2.

Takeaways

As much as the Cartrol is just a 'guided project' which I worked on, I found it challenging work on something I knew almost nothing about. I also found it exciting because it helped me refine my design choices such as color choices and typefaces.

I am happy I got to explore design impacts on businesses and how
