Vetifly
Providing the luxury of Air travel in the finger-tips of Users
Project Overview
The Challenge
Redesign the Vetifly app.
The Product
Vetifly is a helicopter charter app that allows users to book seats or charter for both Personal and Business use.
My Role
UI/UX Designer that redesigned the Vetifly app.
The Goal
-
Identify pain points/ problems which users experience when they use the Vetifly app
-
Brainstorm and develop ideas and solutions which would best fix the pain points.
-
Design the best Solutions and create a prototype.
Project duration
3 weeks
Responsibilities
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.
Understanding the user
I conducted a brainstorming session on how to go about the design process. First, I downloaded the Vetifly app and went through the experience through the eyes of a user. While still in the shoes of users, I identified pain point and problems associated with the app. Next I went into the comment section of the App store to check comments of users to see how they align with my experience. I was able to find similar occurrence across other users who did confirm my experience.
Meet The Users
Fred
Fred is a busy Chief Executive Officer who needs a way to move around Nigeria while doing their business without worrying about how they do it.
Shade
Shade is a remote working Product Manager who wants to make more use of her free time by going on adventurous helicopter rides.

Competitive Audit
In order to determine features that would make the experience better on the Vetifly app, I had to audit the apps of few competitor’s app to see what they were doing right and wrong. I evaluated several features deemed vital and identified which ones Vetifly would capitalize on to have an edge over other applications
Some of the gaps noticed include:
Seat selection
Navigation
Strong use of visuals

Information Architecture

Starting the design
Digital Wireframes
As the initial design phase continued, I made sure to base screen designs on feedback and findings from the user research.

Pain Points & Redesign
1. Poor Navigation
The lack of a defined Navigation system for users to identify their travel path down the app makes the Veifly UI confusing to use. A comment from a user confirmed this. The user said and quote “The app is very confusing”

Design Solution
Addition of a Bottom Navbar - Providing easy navigation was my top priority. I designed a Navbar which would help users to travel through the different sections of the app.
2. Poor Use of Visuals
Users are mostly able to relate visually to things that they see first before other senses. The Original design wasn’t visually engaging and therefore might not appeal to many users.

Design Solution
I used sufficient images to make the app more visually appeasing to users and also improve the overall experience.
3. Seat Selection
Choice of seat could create an awkward situation for customers upon arrival at the Helipad. Providing a defined seating arrangement based on the how they are booked so as to create an organized arrangement.

Design Solution
I designed a seat selection interface that allows users to choose the seat of their choice. The users also know which seat has been selected. A visual interface makes it more engaging.
New Features
I added some new features that would ultimately improve the overall experience in the app. These features are meant to organized the app some more and allow users to navigate easily.
-
Trips
This feature allows users to see their trip inventory. They can easily see their SCHEDULED TRIPS and their TRIP HISTORY

-
Messages
This feature allows users to receive messages and updates directly from Vetifly. Users can also respond directly and keep track of conversations.

-
More
The MORE section gives users access to other important parts of the app such as SETTINGS, FAQ, CONTACT US e.t.c

High Fidelity Prototype

Style Guide
Using different shades of the Vetifly brand navy blue color, we were able to sell the identity of Vetifly as a secure, promising and control app. I utilized color sparingly throughout the app to convey which elements were interactable and should be paid attention to within the product. The main typefaces of choice for the app is Spinnaker and Poppins. This played the pivotal role of matching the commanding environment was built in Vetifly interface.

Takeaways
Impact
The Redesign of the Vetifly app will certainly impact the life of it's users by placing the control in the hands of the users.
What I learned
While designing the app, I learnt more about component design which was key for me to be able to create the interactive interface.
